AGENT PROFILE  Shannon Doherty

Dedicated to the Darien area

In the real estate field for seven years in New York City and then Connecticut, Shannon Doherty is happy to be a realtor based in Darien, where she lives.

Doherty, who has been affiliated with Houlihan Lawrence for one year, called Darien “an amazing community. I’ve been here 18 months and we’ve met so many people like us with young kids.”

The town, she said, is an easy sell because it is welcoming.

“There is always something going on for the kids.  Its not too big either. It’s a quaint new England town.  We are obsessed with it,” she said.

While Doherty’s work as a Realtor runs the gamut, the 32 year old said she especially likes to working with first-time home buyers and in new construction.

“ I can relate to them,” she said of first-time home buyers. “I see a lot of myself in them and thye were like me in finding a place to start their life and raise a family.  Purchasing a first home can be a very rewarding experience and I love being a part of that.”

Doherty, who described herself as “a people person and a go-getter,” said many buyers are looking for new construction because they can customize it for their needs and everything is brand new.

While many new construction homes are pricey, Doherty said “ There is a lot of new construction in Dairen, but not a lot under $2million.  But, the builders I’m working with right now are working on new construction under $2 million so they can attract those customers that want new construction but cannot afford something more than $2 million.”

When looking for a home, Doherty said clients should look her up because she is personable, easy going and knowledgeable.

Down the road, Doherty said, she’d like to “build my presence in Connecticut. I want to build my client base and I’d love to form a team ( of Realtors) within Houlihan.”

Outside of real estate, Doherty enjoys spending time with her husband and children, playing tennis and traveling to Rhode Island.
